What you'll do at

Manages the development and evolution of new and existing building formats (Prototypes)by working with internal customers to fully understand business needs and requirements; ensuring all design work meets the organization's operational and merchandising needs; and ensuring all designs are optimized with respect to cost and design efficiencies; reviewing and approving consultant designs and proposals; selecting consultants to support initiatives; and securing management approval at appropriate stages of the projects.
Ensures the safety, security, and integrity of all Walmart Stores and Sam's Club new store projects, special projects, and other corporate facilities by managing the development, implementation, and communication of prototype design guidelines to drive compliance with all federal, state, and local building codes (for example, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), International Building Code (IBC)), as well as all corporate compliance, food safety, and asset management requirements: supporting processes for the selection, review, and evaluation of qualified and reputable consultants; and using knowledge of best practices and codes to challenge design elements and mitigate risk to the company.
Manages the design of all new store projects (for example, new store, relocations, expansions, take overs) by directing the creation of pre-REC conceptual designs; collaborating with project team (for example, Project Manager, Real Estate Director, Civil Engineering Manager, Regional Estimator, external consultants) to establish project scope, budget, and schedule; directing consultants on the adaptation of prototypical designs to conform to site or jurisdictional requirements; communicating deviations from prototype to project team and leadership; and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all project needs and requirements are met (for example, schedule, budget).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and 4 years’ experience in architecture.
• Licensed Architect or meets all minimum requirements for licensure as a Licensed Architect.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years’ experience in retail or grocery facilities design.
• 2 years’ experience managing large facilities portfolio.
• 2 years’ experience in sustainable facilities design.
• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
