What you'll do at

Walmart Marketing Creative is a fast-paced, high volume department, serving the needs of the business. This position is responsible for the operation of our in-house photography studio located in South San Francisco, which produces imagery and video for digital, signage, print and corporate use. The Walmart Studio is a highly functional, flexible, and efficient in-house studio available for a multitude of projects of any scope or size. We handle all aspects of a campaign or project from onset to completion, creating impactful, brand-focused imagery for our website and stores. We produce and create more than 2 million images annually for our vast catalog, including lifestyle, table top, laydown and pin-up, as well as room sets and on-figure apparel photography and imaging. We also produce state of the art videos for marketing, item, internal communications, and events. We also maintain an extensive roster of freelance Photographers, Videographers, Art Directors, Stylists, and Production Assistants from all over the Bay Area. Essential Functions
Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders --serves as the liaison between the studio and those teams the photo studio serves.

Manages and is responsible for overall photo studio operations:
•Tracking, measuring, and reporting productivity.
•Ensuring studio accountability to meet productivity targets.
•Manages overall studio shoot schedule according to business needs, sample availability and competing priorities.
•Manages the Photo Studio Operations Team.
•Coordinates photo shoot logistics and resourcing (e.g., location scouting, model casting, fee negotiation).
•Oversees contracting of freelance photographers, stylists, and assistants.
•Leads continuous improvement of photo studio workflow to maximize capacity, increase operational efficiency, and ensure process compliance.
•Provide continual skills enhancement training on photography, media technology, skills related to project tracking, management, review and approval and technical background.
•Ensures compliance of on-brand photography services with Walmart's creative vision to ensure consistent use of category-specific style guides, documents and service level agreements.

Contributes to the management of Creative financial operations:
•Assists in developing and manages overall photo studio operations budget.
•Negotiates statements of work and other contracts.
•Develops estimates, and invoices clients according to terms of agreement.
•Ensures work is delivered on budget.
•Ensures efficient and accurate invoice processing.
Leads and facilitates photo studio operations strategic short-term and long-term planning.
•Manages capacity forecasting, tracking, and reporting.
•Develops resource allocation plans and align them with business goals.
•Partners with cross-functional business partners (for example, Retail, Marketing, Item Setup, etc.) to better forecast seasonal photography needs.
•Drive budget and calendar planning efforts.
Develops team and studio goals and objectives
•Identifies and addresses improvement opportunities.
•Demonstrates adaptability and promotes continuous learning.
•Provides supervision, coaching and development opportunities for direct reports through mentoring, strategically assigning duties or projects, providing recognition, and ensuring diversity awareness, amongst other things.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Art, or related field and 5+ years of experience in photo studio management or operations, or related field, OR 8+ years of experience in photo studio management or operations, or related field.
•Travel may be necessary to and from multiple facilities or work-sites requiring consecutive overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications

•3 years of supervisory experience.
•6 years of experience in retail photo studio operations or related field.
•3 years of experience managing vendor contracts and relationships.
•3 years of experience managing cross-functional teams.
•2 years of experience managing budgets.
•4 years of experience in professional digital photography.
•3 years of experience in digital marketing creative or related field.

  • 3 years experience in online marketing.
  • 3 years experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • 3 years experience managing vendor contracts and relationships.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5 years experience in direct or indirect retail marketing, including product marketing and brand management.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
