What you'll do at

As Senior Manager of Strategic Analytics, you will help the World’s largest omni-channel retailer develop tools to make better investment and optimization decisions to fuel aggressive and profitable eCommerce growth. You will work with senior leadership to define their needs and find growth opportunities, and turn those requirements into actionable tools and products. You will work on technical projects such as data warehousing strategy, channel specific marketing automation design, and advanced analytics application design. You will be a key evangelist for the applied use of data and insights to systematically drive efficient decision-making and optimization against agreed upon performance metrics.

•Develop innovative analytics solutions to provide marketing with insights for better decision making, and inform mission-critical decisions for senior leaders at the company.
•Develop and implement tools or software systems that will help streamline marketing channels (SEM, Display, Paid Social, Email, etc.) and analyze information to determine and plan the modification of existing systems.
•Interpret analytic results and performance data (e.g. Audience targeting tools, mid-funnel conversion metrics, customer acquisition cost, user lifetime value) to develop strategies to further optimize for performance.
•Design and enhance the analytics infrastructure that powers the entire online marketing and user acquisition operations.
•Leverage advanced analytics technique to develop attribution and user behavior models for offline acquisition channel such as TV, radio and direct mails.
•Write advanced SQL queries using tools such as Teradata, MySQL to retrieve and analyze large quantities of data using Python, VBA or R.
•Support Category Marketing leadership with custom tools that serve the Category’s unique goals and challenges.
•Build demand curve and propensity tools that will by used by Vehicle and Category teams to grow their business.
•Support customer segmentation efforts, including acquisition and retention tools, as well as propensity modeling tools.
•Provide both Ad Hoc analysis as well as tools for self-serve analytics where needed. Provide training and context to enable correct interpretation of self-serve data.
•Consistently share analysis and optimization tools with the larger Marketing organization to allow cross-pollination of learnings and drive adoption, and to champion the cause of becoming a more data-driven organization.

  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates

Minimum Qualifications

•BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or related field or equivalent, relevant work experience.
•5+ years of experience in a combination of data analytics, marketing analytics, computer programming, database technology, product development, and technology project management.
•Experience leading teams (directly or dotted line) of data analysts, engineers, and data scientists.
•Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and R.
•Sharp analytical mind and strong passion for data science and marketing analytics.
•Strong understanding of quantitative modeling methods and concepts, data manipulation, data relationships, spreadsheets, queries, and business intelligence tools.
•Knowledge of statistical concepts (e.g., significance testing, sampling etc.) with working knowledge of multivariate statistics (i.e., regression analysis, hypothesis testing etc.).
•Experience working across various internal stakeholders including Category Marketing, Channel Marketing, Customer Experience and CRM, Finance, and Engineering.
•Retail Analytics expertise, preferably with large Omni-channel retailer in multiple consumer categories.
•Strong understanding of paid, owned and earned media channels, with deep practical experience in paid channels such as SEM, Affiliates, Display and Paid Social.
•Knowledge of the changing digital media landscape, including innovative measurement techniques for Mobile, Social, and Addressable Broadcast.
•Extensive experience with A/B and Multivariate test design and implementation. Applied use of several A/B testing tools, with strong understanding of the strengths of each.
•Track record of action-oriented analysis and recommendations: Focused on business outcomes to drive all priorities and accountability.
•Experience with customer segmentation strategy and LTV tools and analysis, with emphasis on the Omni-channel customer. Experience applying propensity models to increase basket size and purchase frequency.

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Communications, or related field and 5 years experience in marketing or related field OR 8 years experience in marketing or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

•Masters degree preferred, in quantitative fields such as Analytics, Economics, Finance, Statistics or related field.
•Experience leveraging omni-channel attribution and fractional attribution methodologies.
•Experience with new measurements models for channels that are historically difficult to track, including Mobile, Social, and TV, including techniques beyond cookie-based solutions.
•Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage projects, communicate effectively, and be a self-starter.
•Demonstrated thought leadership and relationship building/management with internal stakeholders and external partners.
•Experience managing data visualization and democratization tools as consistent source of truth, and track record for driving adoption.
•Experience and passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.

  • 3 years experience in online marketing.
  • 3 years experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • 3 years experience managing vendor contracts and relationships.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5 years experience in direct or indirect retail marketing, including product marketing and brand management.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.
