What you'll do...
Join a growing and impactful front-end engineering team to play a role in the world’s largest supply chain network. Our product is a cloud native Warehouse Management System (WMS), serving thousands of associates who ship millions of packages for Walmart.com as well as for Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) customers.
In our business, a small change can make a big difference both for Walmart customers and in the daily lives of associates that work at our fulfillment centers. Every person on our team takes the most pride in making such tangible improvements in the product. Culturally, we are tight knit, remote first, team that value autonomy and embrace personal responsibility in our day to day work. Technologically, we chose simple and robust solutions over all else.
Once delivery dates are established as a team, you’ll enjoy full ownership of the work in front of you, with few or no ritual meetings. In return, you are expected to judge risk and communicate to the team during key points in the process. Day to day, this means working closely with at least one back-end engineer and exactly one product manager to find the best solution to a given problem. To communicate original ideas, we encourage prototypes and code, which we evaluate as a team. As with technology, we aim to keep our process simple and robust.
- Empathy toward your coworkers and toward the users of your software.
- Experience with static type systems. (We use TypeScript on the front-end and F# on the back-end, but all experience is considered.)
- Experience with Domain Name Systems, SSL, and other internet infrastructure.
Nice to have
- Experience with React and/or XState.
- Experience with functional languages such as F#, Haskell, Scala, OCaml, etc.
- Experience with Azure and/or Kubernetes.
- “Full-stack” experience.
Working remotely has helped us make quicker decisions, remove location barriers across our global team, be more flexible in our personal lives and spend less time commuting. We are reimagining the tech workplace of the future by making a permanent transition to virtual work for most of our team. Of course, being together in person is an important part of our culture and shared success. We’ll collaborate in person at a regular cadence and with purpose.
