Serves as the initial point of contact for clubs and other internal stakeholders (for example, merchandising, finance, replenishment, operations) on pricing and signing issues impacting associate and member experience by leveraging internal relationships; responding to in-club pricing inquiries (for example, signing discrepancies, markdowns, systems errors) that are received through multiple channels (for example, email, phone, in-person); training and providing resources for comp shoppers; and partnering with and educating merchants to influence decisions.
Supports the execution of multiple promotional pricing plans and projects for Pricing Division by identifying customer and operational needs of highly complex promotional pricing scenarios; prioritizing the selection of items for various promotional pricing tactics based on overall strategy & expected ROI; developing and communicating business plans and priorities while collaborating with Supplier community as needed; identifying performance standards for future promotions; and developing contingency plans in case of unexpected interruptions or promotional pricing conflicts.
Develops complex analytical models to support pricing initiatives by developing analytical capabilities that support the pricing strategy; analyzing and mining data to identify areas of opportunities and gaps in the current pricing strategy; interpreting results to provide localized data for specific category needs; providing data to support business cases for category needs; performing variance analysis to determine impact of solutions on the business; and making process improvement recommendations.
Acquires and leverages competitive intelligence to improve price position and profitably through competitor data and analytics by benchmarking competitor pricing against club pricing; evaluating costing (for example, trade funds) components; obtaining cost increase justifications; determining competitor strategy and developing action plans; and conducting market track analysis to determine on sale/off sale mix of competitors.
Communicates pricing information, strategies, and tactics by presenting information to merchant teams and executive leadership to persuade and influence others towards recommended pricing strategies; organizing data and insights to support and influence business decisions; serving as a spokesperson on Sam's Club competitive price gap and strategy performance on items in assigned categories; and providing clear performance measures of executed strategy to all levels of management.
Trains and educates cross-functional teams (for example, merchandising, finance, replenishment) on systems and processes by training new associates on systems and processes; providing training on statistical analysis and process improvement methodology; and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
