What you'll do...

The Director, Global Governance Communications is an action-oriented, results-driven role responsible for leading legal and compliance communications for the largest company in the world. The ideal candidate approaches communications strategically and enjoys finding innovative ways to communicate that reinforce our business objectives and priorities. In this role you’ll develop communications strategies and narratives that reinforce Walmart’s legal and compliance priorities, lead a team of world-class communicators, manage sensitive matters and oversee analytics, processes and reporting.

The Director for Global Governance Communications lead Walmart’s legal and compliance focused communications, including developing and directing communications strategies that include internal, external, social media, issues management and more. The successful candidate will be a strategic and creative thinker who bring an ability to manage multiple projects end to end and envision the full picture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive comprehensive communication strategies (including executive positioning, media relations, internal, stakeholder and social/digital), ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a counselor to senior leaders across the organization.
  • Develop impactful messages that help move the needle with key audiences.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate plans and initiatives.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson, building and maintaining relationships with national, local, and online journalists.
  • Continuously monitor trends, competitor activity, and audience preferences to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

  • Be an expert and persuasive storyteller and making complex subjects easily understood through words and visuals. 
  • Leverage AI and other tools to add value to communications efforts.
  • Bring your organization, discipline, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading impactful communications strategies.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working with top-tier media.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Gracefulness under pressure and deadlines; must be able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Analytical and creative mindset.
  • Willing to travel, as need.
