What you'll do at

Supports development and management of new and existing product lines by presenting and supporting line review decisions through item creation and maintenance; supporting the modular process and ensuring modular item assortment and design determinations are aligned with category, department, and division strategies, financial targets, and presentation expectations; working with senior buyer to set base retail prices and determine price leadership items; and supporting pricing strategies (for example markdowns, Tabloid, competitor pricing analysis, co-op execution). Buys products for a subcategory by establishing and maintaining supplier relationships; managing the supplier matrix and using the supplier matrix to select and develop suppliers; managing the number of suppliers and stock keeping units (SKUs) required to meet customer needs; negotiating supplier cost, quality, and delivery terms (for example, updating agreements, tracking compliance) under guidance of senior buyer; leading meetings with suppliers and cross-functional peers; partnering with senior buyer in addressing escalated issues related to replenishment and other support areas (for example, delivery, quality); and working with suppliers to resolve issues. Provides input to senior buyer or merchandising vice president for developing and managing subcategory budgets by analyzing past performance, trends, and strategy; creating initial budget for senior buyer approval; collaborating with senior buyer to set subcategory financial targets; reviewing annual, monthly, weekly, and daily financial projections against actual results; requesting and reviewing analysis and reports from suppliers and cross-functional peers; identifying and addressing the root cause of deviations from projected plans; and reporting business risks and opportunities to senior buyer and senior management. Supports senior buyer in subcategory strategy development by collecting and researching industry, consumer, competitor, and trend information; integrating information into the development subcategory strategy recommendations; analyzing customer needs for the subcategory assortment; reviewing pre- and post-modular financial results to determine success of previous assortment selections; identifying merchandising opportunities to enhance the store of the community; and interacting with customers and store associates to determine current and future needs of customers. Coordinates and leads cross-functional meetings by aligning subcategory team workload with modular relay timelines and strategies; reviewing purchase plans; ensuring timely execution of business plans at the store level; reviewing and analyzing inputs and reports from team members; identifying merchandising issues; coordinating and leading team meetings to address merchandising issues and develop potential solutions; addressing unexpected or unusual circumstances (for example, product recall, natural disasters) that impact product availability or demand; resolving remedy tickets, customer requests and store calls; and escalating issues to senior management as requirement. Supports the senior buyer with execution and maintenance of subcategory inventory plans by reviewing open-to-buy developments, updates, and recommendations; providing inputs and insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions at the store level; supports multiple buyers with planning and executing features; reviewing markdown budgets and clearance plans and providing recommendations to the senior buyer; and addressing inventory flow and management decisions that deviate from established plans; partnering with Merchandise Operations to execute key seasonal business flow plans (for example, Christmas, back to school, game time). Supports the senior buyer with execution and maintenance of subcategory inventory plans by reviewing open-to-buy developments, updates, and recommendations; providing inputs and insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions at the store level; supporting multiple buyers with planning and executing features; reviewing markdown budgets and clearance plans and providing recommendations to the senior buyer; addressing inventory flow and management decisions that deviate from established plans; and partnering with Merchandise Operations to execute key seasonal business flow plans (for example, Christmas, back to school, game time).
