Store No.8 was founded on the belief that the future of commerce is being shaped today. Powered by the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, we identify and invest in trends and technologies reshaping the shopping experience. We have several game-changing startups, some publicly known such as JetBlack and Spatialand, which are helping us to get to this goal. 

Project Franklin is Store N°8‘s portfolio company led by Bart Stein, co-founder of Stamped
and, most recently, founder of Wim Yogurt. Walmart is not getting into the frozen yogurt
business, though Bart and his team’s tech expertise has led to the creation of some of the
most thoughtfully-designed and technologically-advanced home devices on the market.
They will bring those past experiences and learnings to Store N°8 through Project Franklin.

About the Role:

In this role, you will provide ongoing support to the Head of Marketing and Partnerships, lead operational projects to help other teams work effectively and efficiently, and play a unique and varied role spanning the entire business as someone with deep expertise in using research based insights to drive strategic initiatives and planning for all aspects of marketing and go-to-market for our product. With a threefold increase in our budget and launch markets, we are seeing an exponential period of growth and need a strategy and growth jujitsu master to help us through it all!

What You’ll Do:

  • Take responsibility for high-impact strategy projects in the areas of go-to-market, marketing and partnerships constantly challenging and advancing the status quo of our overall strategy, product launch and scaling plans
  • Act as a thought partner to your own team members who may be working autonomously on projects with relevant executives, as well as to the Head of Partnerships and Marketing
  • Prepare and run a variety of research studies, and manage a number of research partners, to help us ensure that any go-to-market, marketing and growth decision that we are taking is data backed
  • Identify, implement and incubate new growth opportunities for the business especially in the space of marketing, customer acquisition and retention
  • Build a detailed understanding of our competitive landscape and identify opportunities for us to expand into adjacent markets
  • Work with senior leaders across the organization to prepare for meetings, presentations, and everything in between for internal and external audiences
  • Help us retain our scrappy startup groove by ensuring the efficiency of our capital, operating expenses, marketing expenses and broader SG&A expenses as we scale nationally

What You’ll Need:

  • 3-5 years in a top consultancy twinned with a year or so of in-house strategic/operational experience
  • Love numbers, but love using them to get to insight even more – you should have superior Excel modeling capabilities
  • An ability to synthesize information quickly, to distill key takeaways, and to weave insights into a compelling story that clarifies and inspires
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct research in close collaboration with people in a variety of roles, including design, engineering, and product management
