Position Summary

The Senior Manager will lead Forecasting for the core eCommerce Transportation business. The Senior Manager will be primarily responsible for leading a team of analysts focused on advanced forecasting and carrier capacity management.  S/he will develop the Transportation team’s forecasts for Carriers and Fulfillment centers and will manage Carrier Capacity.

This role is part of the Walmart eCommerce Transportation Analytics team – a future-focused, action-biased, data-driven team chartered with defining the next generation transportation network by leveraging big data. This is a high-impact and high-visibility role within the organization with expectations to deliver immediate results. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop transportation forecasts with a high degree of granularity and accuracy, and align across multiple partners including Carriers and Fulfillment centers
  • Partner with Carriers, and with Operations and Procurement teams to ensure sufficient carrier capacity is available
  • Build tools and monitor order flow in real time to ensure capacity is being utilized appropriately 
  • Partner with Product teams to develop features to manage carrier capacity
  • Direct efforts of team members and manage multiple projects at once while ensuring deadlines are met and data output is accurate and appropriate for the business.
  • Must also be able to deal with ambiguity and make independent decisions about what data and approach is best for the task at hand.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in Operations Research, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management
  • 3+ years of post-graduate work experience, including demonstrated success in leading forecasting projects to achieve business-impacting results
  • Experience with forecasting tools and techniques
  • Experienced people manager
  • Expert in MS-Excel and SQL
  • Competent in MS-PowerPoint and comfortable building presentation materials to tell a clear story
  • Ability to foster successful partnerships within cross-functional teams
  • Effective communication skills at multiple levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Ability to champion ideas and influence the organization with fact-driven recommendations
  • Strong follow-through skills and acute attention to detail

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Operations Research, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management
  • Retail e-commerce industry experience
