We are looking for a Content Marketing Manager to oversee the day-to-day execution of Hayneedle’s content strategy and supervising a team of content strategists.  The ideal candidate will possess a passion for SEO and content marketing, have excellent analytical and organizational skills, and be highly autonomous and self-motivating. 

This role will report to the Senior Manager, SEO and Content Strategy and will be based at Hayneedle HQ in Omaha, Nebraska.   


The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of Hayneedle’s content strategy and supervising a team of content strategists. Additionally, the Content Marketing Manager will be responsible for conceptualizing, researching, and/or writing copy intended to grow Hayneedle’s exposure to new audiences. Primary duties include developing story ideas around key product categories and design trends, and writing both evergreen and timely content intended to increase the brand’s organic visibility across a variety of acquisition channels.

  • Strategize with other marketing teams and across departments to research, plan, and develop compelling stories with wide appeal
  • Coordinate with outside partners on the development of content assets to be published on Hayneedle’s website and amplified across social media platforms
  • Compile research from a variety of sources – including interviews with subject matter experts and industry influencers – in order to write accurate, engaging, and relevant content
  • Maintain consistent house style, voice, and standards
  • Test and execute a variety of outreach tactics in order to promote the Hayneedle content to partners, influencers, and customers
  • Conduct keyword research to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities to grow the site’s visibility for inspirational, informational, and transactional search queries
  • Monitor and research competitors, understanding their tactics, strategies, and performance as it relates to SEO and content
  • Collaborate with other members of the SEO team on various content strategy initiatives, including content inventories/audits and editorial calendars
  • Utilize a variety of tools to assist with tasks as necessary, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics (Omniture), SEMrush, Moz, Ahrefs, BuzzSumo, etc., in addition to an enterprise SEO toolset (e.g., BrightEdge, seoClarity, Conductor Searchlight)
  • Master the perfect combination of speed, efficiency, and quality in every project
  • Communicate with team and management on project development, timelines, and results
  • Work closely with other team members and cross functionally with other departments
  • Stay up-to-date with industry news, including the latest SEO trends, tools, algorithm


  • 3+ years writing professionally in journalism or content marketing environment
  • 2+ years managing direct reports in journalism or content marketing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism/PR or related field required
  • Familiarity with a variety of online analytics tools and working knowledge of social media platforms preferred, especially if acquired in a previous content marketing role
  • Possess a passion for SEO and content marketing
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Organize projects and compile reports with strong attention to detail
  • Possess excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding ability to think creatively, identify and resolve problems
  • Possess high levels of integrity, autonomy, and self-motivation
  • Utilize internet knowledge as a consumer using search engine tools
  • Comfortable with using a variety of methods of correspondence including: phone, email and social media
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in an effort to effectively articulate thoughts and points
  • Efficiently use a computer and Microsoft Office applications
  • Implement new processes and improve efficiency
  • Analyze data and research trends in order to develop new strategies
  • Adjust to the constantly changing landscape of search engine optimization
  • Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance
