What you'll do at

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer professional in our San Bruno, CA office.

Duties: Help build, operate, and expand WalmartLabs's big data cluster systems. The WalmartLabs Big Data environment currently consists of several Linux clusters running Hadoop, including over a thousand nodes and petabytes of storage in several data centers. Code to automate data ingestion workflows and automate system administration tasks. Monitor availability and performance and respond to system issues as necessary. Figure out efficient ways to load new data sources into the big data environment, which is the go-to big data source for dozens of Walmart data analysis groups and production computing projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or related field and 2 years of experience with large scale enterprise software development environments.

Skills required: Experience in building, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining Web Services. Experience supporting DevOps and Systems Administration. Experience in at least two of these programming languages: Shell Scripting, Python, Perl, or Java. Experience with Build tools like Make, ANT, Maven, or Rake. Experience with any of the deployment tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt. Experience with Build Automation tools such as Jenkins, CruiseControl, CodeShip. Experience working in a medium to large scale operational environment. Experience with containerized applications using VMware, Vagrant, or Docker. Experience with automating container deployments. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
