What you'll do

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer professional in our Sunnyvale, CA office.

Duties: Manage projects and support the systems core infrastructure, Solaris, Linux and Windows Operating Systems running both on Physical and Virtual Servers, Private Cloud with System Hardening skills in a mission-critical, 24/7 ecommerce environment. Able to troubleshoot the issue, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions for failure point. Be a strong technical implementer and team member. Articulate technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, disk and file system I/O, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels). Work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment. Comprehend, analyze and research problems of a complex nature, make judgment decisions and recommendations as to their solution handle on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years of experience supporting a system’s core infrastructure.

Skills required: Experience with installing, configuring, and supporting operating systems like Solaris 9, 10 and Linux 5, 6, and 7. Experience with supporting and implementing VERITAS products like VxVM, VxFS, VCS. Demonstrated knowledge of designing, building, configuring, administrating, and troubleshooting clustering technologies such as Linux Cluster, HACMP, and VCS. Demonstrated knowledge of managing systems via an automated configuration management system such as BladeLogic, Puppet, CFEngine. Experience with creating and managing native Linux OS packages. Experience with maintaining Windows server based systems. Experience with automating operational repetitive tasks such as kernel patching, firmware upgrades, and RedHat to CentOS migrations. Systems engineering experience. Experience with programming languages like Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, C. Experience automating day to day tasks using scripting languages like PERL, Shell, and PYTHON. Experience with ITIL based ticketing systems and change management. Experience deploying, configuring, and managing out-of-band management facilities like ILO, IPMI.
