What you'll do at

As a Software Engineer III at Walmart Technology, you'll be working with business stakeholders to design the cloud migration strategy. You will be responsible for driving high priority business initiatives on Azure. The role requires deep and broad experience in defining, architecting, and deploying cloud solutions in Azure. The individual will be providing deployment guidance, supporting development of the business cloud adoption model, and will be providing appropriate recommendations to overcome blockers.
• Conducting cloud assessments to determine appropriate cloud uses case to leverage AZURE and determine what applications and workloads to move to AZURE
• Based on cloud use case and/or applications/workloads to move to AZURE, define and design appropriate to-be application, platform, and hosting architectures in AZURE
• Designing AZURE architecture that meets key nonfunctional requirements (security, compliance, performance, resiliency, and availability) and needed services
• Migration of assets (workloads/applications) and capabilities (e.g. DR, archiving/backup) to AZURE
• Utilizing AZURE services (e.g. Azure Pack, Web App PaaS, Resource Manager, etc.) to implement desired cloud operating model to enable DevOps capabilities
• Implementation of appropriate security patterns utilizing AZURE capabilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and 5 years’ experience in information technology or related field within the past 7 years OR 3 years’ experience in information technology or related field within the past 7 years with Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Has at least 4 years of hands-on experience in planning, designing and implementing IT capabilities and migrating workloads/applications to AZURE
• Preferred – AZURE certifications in Infrastructure and Architecture
• Working knowledge and understanding of AZURE platform and its services
• Has 5 or more years’ experience in IT and/or software development including roles as an enterprise architect, application architecture or infrastructure architecture
• Implementation experience with distributed applications; working knowledge of software development, DevOps tools and methodologies
• 5+ years of experience in networking; infrastructure or database architecture
• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
• Possesses a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends
• 5+ years of success in complex technical deployment projects
• 5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)
• 2+ years of experience in “migrating” on-premises workloads to the cloud
• Oversight experience on major transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation support teams
• Ability to stay current on Azure technology outside of the work environment compliments this role (i.e. – lab work, Azure tenant, O365 tenant, blogging and writing)
