What you'll do

This position is responsible for the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related
responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
Essential Functions

Drives the execution of multiple promotional pricing plans and projects for Pricing Division by identifying customer and operational needs of highly
complex promotional pricing scenarios; prioritizing the selection of items for various promotional pricing tactics based on overall strategy & expected
ROI; developing and communicating business plans and priorities while collaborating with Supplier community as needed; identifying performance
standards for future promotions; and developing contingency plans in case of unexpected interruptions or promotional pricing conflicts.
Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects for Pricing Division by identifying customer and operational needs of highly complex
portfolios; prioritizing the needs based on overall strategy; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; identifying performance
standards; understanding and anticipating the limitations of existing systems and independently optimizing their use and taking action to deliver
business results; and developing contingency plans in case of unexpected interruptions. Supports assigned highly complex Merchandising areas in achieving budgeted sales and gross profit rate by developing and implementing pricing
strategies that are consistent with the overall competitive strategy of the company recognizing when targets are not achievable or not in line with
broader strategy; identifying and evaluating potential actions needed to achieve sales, gross profit and price leadership goals, developing a range
solutions and recommending the best course of action to deliver business results; evaluating effectiveness of pricing and optimization tools and
makes recommendations for optimal solutions; developing proactive pricing plans and strategies to guide merchants' efforts in building new or
continuing product lines; utilizing highly specialized optimization tools along with industry and market input from Merchandising associates; soliciting,
evaluating and optimizing suggestions for improving efficiency; and consulting with business partners, Managers, co-workers, executive leadership or
other key stakeholders. Manages item markdowns to Exit items profitability by driving optimization techniques to minimize gross margin loss while achieving out-of-stock
dates and stock keeping unit (SKU) budgets by division; projecting financial impacts of markdowns for the Merchandising Division; developing and
implementing exit strategies for seasonal products; developing margin profiles by item and category; working with the Planning Division to ensure
smooth transition of items from one season to the next; and advising initial pricing for seasonal and one time purchases.
Supports operators in achieving Sam's Club's price leadership strategy to improve price perception in the marketplace by developing strategies that
allow Sam's Club to compete effectively at the local level by synthesizing feedback from local operators; putting processes in place to find and correct
errors; developing training programs for comparison shoppers; assessing effectiveness of the local competitive shopping program and identifying
process improvements to address local competitiveness gaps; and designing and Implementing the requisite reporting to maintain local control on key
items. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work
environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching
for success and improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field and 3 years
experience in merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, marketing, or related field OR 5 years experience in
merchandising, retail pricing, sourcing, operations management, finance, marketing, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field.
3 years experience using intermediate Microsoft Office functionality (for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
2 years experience developing financial, marketing, or merchandising strategies.
2 years of supervisory experience.
2 years experience working with cross-functional teams.
