What you'll do

The Senior Sourcing Manager I – Global Food Sourcing is responsible for supporting merchant on negotiations as needed, managing grower performance, and identifying and cultivating growers. This position drives the execution of the overall strategy for their assigned team and is responsible for mentoring others and promoting and supporting company expectations. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.  Collaborates with cross-functional business partners (for example, merchants, planners) to understand growth in items, regions and growing methods.  Understands varietals grown in geographical regions to meet long-term multi-country specific product needs.  Serves as a subject matter and industry expert in understanding multiple commodities and items sourced both in- and out-of-season for country of assignment.  Oversees assigned sourcing programs at item level, including seasonal and in-country regions and growing areas.  Influences internal and external business partners (for example, growers, merchants) to bring product and packaging innovation to market.  Aligns the sourcing strategy with merchant's annual operating plan (AOP).  Provides perishability and quality insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions.  Incorporates company growth strategy into planning (for example, upstreaming, growth in direct import (DI), protected agriculture).  Supports merchant with recommended produce spec changes and expectations.  Evaluates new and existing vendors based on performance metrics and long-term potential.  Supports the merchant in supplier alignment decisions (for example, freshness, upstreaming, product availability, locally grown and organic programs).  Provides agro-intelligence and supplier capability insights to merchant for negotiations with vendors to obtain freshest product at the lowest sustainable cost.  Measures and tracks awarded volumes against actual volume through the commitment tracker.  Gathers and communicates crop and market intelligence through farm visits and provides timely and expert-level agro intelligence to the cross-functional team.  Informs buyer of changes to crop conditions that will affect cost of goods.  Identifies, develops and maintains grower relationships that meet company financial, ethical, and sustainability standards.  Assesses and develops vendor production, distribution and technological capabilities to ensure adequate supply for Global Produce.  Identifies and develops new growing regions.  Partners with Food Safety, Responsible Sourcing and other teams to ensure suppliers comply with all Walmart supplier requirements.  Conducts quarterly performance reviews with the merchant and with all vendors.  Manages and resolves vendor issues

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in food safety, supply chain management, operations management, agronomy, agricultural
economics or related field and 2 years experience in supply chain, replenishment, merchandising or related field
OR 4 years experience in supply chain, replenishment, merchandising or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in food safety, supply chain management, operations management, agronomy, agricultural
economics or related field.
 6 years experience in supply chain, replenishment, merchandising or related field
