What you'll do

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Networking & Storage, the Sr. Network Engineer will be a member of the team that manages @Walmarlabs! Network infrastructure. You will design, build and provide operational support within a 24/7 support environment.
Responsibilities
• Develops technical Network Infrastructure solutions to meet Customer needs, maintain and improve network stability.
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, provide troubleshooting support for complex enterprise network environments.
• Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and participate in war rooms for critical site issues
• Collaborate cross functional teams of Network and Security Architects, Server and Platform Engineers, and Data Center Operations
• Create the SOP’s for day to day repeatable work
• Responsible for all aspects of the data center network including standards, design, technical integration, DR/Failover process and technology recommendations
• Responsible for all aspects of implementation and support of Local Area Network and Wireless Local Area Network technologies at sites as assigned
• Assist in deployment of new projects and services in the data center environment and elsewhere in the global enterprise
• Work cooperatively with other senior engineering resources to maintain and revise technical standards and documentation as part of a unified strategy
• Responsible for troubleshooting issues and issue management throughout the network environment, serving as senior technical support for other members of the team and peer organizations
• Responsible for identifying problem areas in a proactive way and developing solutions to meet the challenges in the converged network environment
• Responsible for ensuring the security of the data center network infrastructure and working with the security architecture team to ensure the highest standards of security is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in CS or equivalent professional degree, OR work equivalent and 5+ years industry experience.
• Routing & switching architecture, design of large scale networks. In depth knowledge of layer 4 – 7 troubleshooting (from a networking perspective…i.e. when an app can’t connect).
• Understanding of SDN – full stack engineering (compute, storage, network)
• Ability to diagnose complex technical problems and find the root cause
• Strong leader with a desire to educate and develop good talent within the team.
• Solid process skills with an understanding of change control processes and managing critical production environments
• Strong inter-personal, analytical thinking, presentation and communication skills essential
• Ability to work in a global team environment.
• Detailed knowledge of complex network concepts including routing protocols, spanning tree, VPC and VLAN design, WLAN technologies, packet analysis and inspection, and application performance troubleshooting
• Detailed knowledge of Cisco data center switching platforms including working knowledge of the Cisco Nexus platform
• Solid understanding of server platforms and how they interact with the network in a high availability configuration

Additional Qualifications

• Cisco Certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CISSP, CCDE. Similar certifications in areas related to network virtualization or internetworking solutions also a plus
• Working knowledge of a scripting language like Python,GO or Ruby
• Highly proficient and have extensive experience with IPSEC, IGP, MPLS, BGP, IPVPN, and TPC/IP technologies
• Familiarity with one or more of the following: Azure, Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, Openstack, datacenters, telecom circuits, or any other public or private cloud environment
