What you'll do at

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

• Design, write and build tools to improve the reliability, latency, availability and scalability of Walmart e-commerce products
• Design and implement distributed systems in an agile delivery environment
• Design/Develop unit, white box as well as performance tests
• Innovate without losing sight of our mission
• Ensure that systems are properly tested, monitored and instrumented
• Collaborate directly with Product Managers
• Develop Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices
• Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects
• Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects
• Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design
• Troubleshoot business and production issues
• Augment existing instrumentation to build a cohesive picture of the characteristics of our systems with special attention to points of failure.
• Develop a deep understanding of the various services and applications that come together to deliver Walmart e-commerce products and Analyze requirements, design and implement infrastructure solutions for e-Commerce platform.
• Design new tools to monitor and smart alerts that help discover failures/issues in a timely fashion and work with engineers to identify root cause and fix issues.
• Interact with application teams, architects, and PMs to design and implement new functionality. Secure the system from issues, be they real, perceived or notional and focus on collecting and inferring metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Computer Science and 12+ years' experience in software engineering OR Master in computer science and 10+ years' experience in software engineering.
• 5+ years of experience designing technical solutions in response to customer requests or changes in retail business.
• 7+ years of experience designing, leading, and implementing technology projects.
• 7+ years of experience in production support, including problem identification, ticket documentation, and customer and vendor relations.
• Working experience in Java/J2EE technologies such as Servlets/JSP, JDBC, JMS, JMX, JMS etc. as well as deployment and supports in production
• Full stack engineer with background in React or Angular JS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Java/J2EE technologies, Cloud technologies, and/or build automation tools
• 5+ years of experience in development of Java webservices
• 5+ years of experience in relational database design/development preferably Oracle
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience/knowledge of any big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Storm, Kafka is a plus
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences.
• Experience working in a cloud computing environment (infrastructure, storage, platforms and/or data)
• Demonstrable experience in agile delivery, as well as DevOps.
• Demonstrated technical, architecture and design leadership
• Strong API design, development, and management
• Demonstrated success in distributed systems, especially REST based services
• Solid dev-ops skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on Linux.

Preferred Qualifications

• React, Redux, node.js, and has built consumer faced web applications.
• Must have proficient knowledge and experience with JavaScript
• Experience with high traffic consumer facing website preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of the following tools/Languages: JavaScript, Bash. Spark (SQL, Streaming), Hadoop Map-Reduce experience. Build Manager (Maven),
• Distributed Version Control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins) experience.
• Strong understanding of Distributed Systems.
• Ability to design for fault tolerance and high availability.
• Experience with Message Queue based scalable async architecture.
• Hands-on experience on Azure and/or GCP is a plus
