What you'll do at

The Product Development Specialist is new role to Walmart.com and one that gives the associate a great opportunity to be part of a growing team that is forging a new path and process as to how we drive private label growth within the home division. This person should have a general understanding of how to develop product from concept to execution and what is required to manage and hit timelines within a product life cycle. Ideally this person would have experience in softlines as well as hardlines and be very familiar with materials, construction and product development vernacular. This person needs to be very process and detail oriented. This person will be instrumental in developing strong processes, partnerships and integration with our store counterparts to gain alignment and leverage resources. This person needs to be extremely collaborative with strong people skills and the ability to manage relationships with grace. We are looking for someone with a start-up and agile thinking mentality that approaches ambiguity and change with a positive attitude and tireless approach.
• Maintains specialized knowledge of processes, industry and customers
• Handles a range of product based assignments related to business area or category
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of consumer product development objectives
• Identifies and elevates issues to consumer product manager that may affect product timelines for the category or business area and recommends potential solutions
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of production timelines and steps
• Suggests additional development opportunities for the product development forecast based on product and category knowledge and interaction with category specialists, suppliers, and related team members
• Performs product research and coordinates with category and related teams to analyze performance and product features within a category or business area
• Identifies industry trends by examining product and sales data for a category or business area to measure impact of existing features and potential areas for improvement
• Coordinates with category and visual merchandising teams to gather information, data and requirements
• Collaborates with cross-functional team members in own category or business area (i.e., Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Planning, Replenishment) to assist with the execution of product development plans
• Effectively communicates consumer product requirements for the category to business partners and suppliers

Minimum Qualifications

3 - 5 years of relevant experience
Intermediate Level in Microsoft Office
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Ecommerce
Subject matter expertise in category preferred, but not required
