What you'll do...
Role summary:As a Software Engineer III, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to enhance system performance and reliability. This role involves managing projects from requirements gathering through coding, testing, and deployment while ensuring adherence to quality and security standards. You will also provide technical guidance to peers, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of high-impact software products aligned with business objectives.
About the team:
The team develops advanced computer vision solutions that enhance Sam’s Club operations and member experience. It manages key products like Exit Vision, enabling fast, accurate exits while reducing shrink, and IRAS, which transforms autonomous observations into precise inventory data. Combining software engineering and data science expertise, the team oversees end-to-end development across edge and cloud services. Responsibilities include integrating computer vision with RFID, ensuring production reliability, and supporting large-scale deployments to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with product, project, business, and user experience teams to develop high-level designs for small to medium projects.
- Analyze and troubleshoot production and business issues, performing root cause analysis and developing effective solutions.
- Translate project requirements into technical solutions, conduct coding, unit testing, and ensure timely delivery.
- Support users by addressing technical questions and guiding implementation strategies.
- Lead and mentor small engineering teams, providing documentation, direction, and timelines.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts for CI/CD processes and implement telemetry features.
- Monitor application performance, conduct maintenance, and evaluate change requests for feasibility.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery within Agile environments.
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming and coding standards using languages such as JavaScript, Python, or C#.
- Expertise in debugging, testing, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Ability to analyze complex requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
- Experience with API design, platform development, and component services.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and troubleshooting production issues effectively.
- Familiarity with telemetry implementation and software security standards.
- Demonstrated capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
