What you'll do...

The Senior Manager, Strategic Account Management - Home Improvement role drives the execution of strategic business plans and category growth initiatives for key Home Improvement supplier partners by identifying customer and business opportunities; developing and executing joint business plans; aligning cross-functional stakeholders; removing barriers to performance; monitoring key business metrics; and adjusting strategies to deliver sustainable sales growth, profitability, and customer value.

Builds and manages strategic supplier relationships by serving as a trusted advisor to key Home Improvement partners; influencing business decisions through data-driven insights; leading business reviews; identifying growth opportunities; and developing long-term strategies that support Walmart's merchandising, eCommerce, and omnichannel objectives.
Provides leadership and development opportunities for associates by selecting, training, mentoring, assigning duties, building a high-performing team environment, establishing performance expectations, providing feedback and coaching, recognizing contributions, and promoting a culture of belonging and continuous development.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by providing direction and guidance; ensuring compliance with company standards; supporting the Open Door process; and fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and trust.
Ensures business objectives are achieved by evaluating the effectiveness of current plans, supplier performance, programs, and initiatives; collaborating with merchants, suppliers, and cross-functional partners; identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial performance; and implementing solutions that enhance customer experience and business results.

Applied Business Acumen

Requires knowledge of:
Industry trends, category dynamics, customer behavior, competitive landscape, retail operations, merchandising strategies, omnichannel business models, financial metrics, data analytics, supplier economics, market conditions, and Home Improvement industry trends.

  • Develop and execute category and supplier growth strategies aligned with Walmart business objectives.

  • Influence supplier investment decisions and business planning through insight-driven recommendations.

  • Build compelling business cases supported by sales, profitability, market share, inventory, and customer metrics.

  • Translate business challenges into strategic initiatives that drive measurable business outcomes.

  • Analyze complex datasets to identify opportunities, risks, trends, and growth drivers.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to suppliers and internal stakeholders on category and customer opportunities.

  • Drive innovation and process improvements that enhance business performance and customer experience.

Strategic Account Management

Requires knowledge of:
Supplier relationship management, joint business planning, category management, portfolio growth strategies, customer retention, business development, revenue forecasting, and sales planning methodologies.

  • Lead strategic partnerships with key Home Improvement suppliers.

  • Develop and execute annual and long-term joint business plans.

  • Drive sales, profit, market share, and customer engagement objectives.

  • Anticipate supplier and category risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Identify incremental growth opportunities through assortment, omnichannel expansion, marketing, and operational improvements.

  • Establish performance goals and accountability mechanisms with supplier partners.

  • Leverage customer and market insights to inform strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.

Relationship Management
Requires knowledge of:
Stakeholder engagement, executive communication, influence management, cross-functional collaboration, supplier management practices, and strategic partnership development.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with supplier executives and internal stakeholders.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Merchandising, eCommerce, Replenishment, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing.

  • Facilitate alignment around business goals, priorities, and growth opportunities.

  • Influence decisions across multiple stakeholder groups to drive execution and results.

  • Resolve strategic business issues while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Category and Product Expertise

Requires knowledge of:
Home Improvement product categories, customer purchasing trends, assortment optimization, competitive market dynamics, retail merchandising principles, omnichannel strategies, and product lifecycle management.

  • Develop expertise across Home Improvement categories and supplier portfolios.

  • Identify assortment opportunities that enhance customer value and drive category growth.

  • Partner with suppliers to improve product performance and customer engagement.

  • Provide recommendations regarding category trends, innovation, and market opportunities.

  • Support the development of customer-focused strategies that improve market position and financial performance.

Sales Planning and Forecasting
Requires knowledge of:
Revenue forecasting methodologies, financial planning, category reporting tools, market analysis, inventory productivity metrics, and supplier planning processes.

  • Develop accurate sales and growth forecasts for strategic supplier accounts.

  • Monitor performance against forecast and identify corrective actions.

  • Evaluate internal and external market factors impacting category performance.

  • Utilize financial and operational metrics to guide strategic planning.

  • Partner with suppliers to build data-driven growth plans and performance targets.

Negotiation Excellence
Requires knowledge of:
Advanced negotiation strategies, supplier economics, stakeholder influence, communication techniques, retailer-supplier relationships, and business case development.

  • Lead complex negotiations with strategic supplier partners.

  • Drive outcomes that balance customer needs, supplier objectives, and company priorities.

  • Influence supplier investment and resource allocation decisions.

  • Resolve conflicts and navigate competing priorities effectively.

  • Protect company interests while fostering collaborative, long-term partnerships.

  • Coach associates on negotiation best practices and strategic influence techniques.


Required Qualifications / Attributes:
  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce / marketplace account management / omni-channel merchandising / vendor management

  • Demonstrated success in managing large, multi-category catalogs with measurable performance improvements.

  • Strong merchandising and catalog management skills; deep understanding of assortment strategy, content optimization, pricing, and catalog hygiene.

  • Operational expertise: inventory management, fulfillment, logistics, supply-chain processes, seller services.

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and seller relationship-building skills.

  • Data-driven with strong analytical capabilities; proficiency with spreadsheet tools (Excel/Sheets), BI tools, and comfort presenting performance analyses and business plans.

  • Proactive, results-oriented, with strong ownership mentality; adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to influence internal stakeholders and external seller leadership.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
