Position Summary...
Are you driven to scale enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) capabilities that enhance global situational awareness and risk intelligence? In this role, you will serve as the strategic and operational owner for the Walmart GSOC’s Geographic Information Systems program, with primary stewardship of our Esri ArcGIS Online environment and supporting tools.You will lead GIS strategy, lifecycle management, governance, roadmap execution, and vendor performance to ensure Walmart’s mapping and spatial analysis capabilities are secure, resilient, and globally scalable. This role combines people leadership with technical proficiency—guiding engineers, analysts, and vendors to deliver high-value GIS solutions that enable risk monitoring, incident response, and operational decision-making across a multinational footprint.

The Walmart Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is the nerve center for enterprise-wide safety and security, providing real-time monitoring, intelligence, and coordinated response across our global footprint. It integrates advanced technology with expert analysts to detect risks early, manage incidents efficiently, and support informed decision-making at every level of the organization. By connecting teams, systems, and critical information, the GSOC ensures a proactive, unified approach to protecting our people, assets, and operations worldwide.
What you'll do...
Own and scale the GSOC GIS ecosystem- Serve as enterprise program owner for Esri ArcGIS Online, including system administration, identity models, data governance, lifecycle maintenance, and roadmap advancement.
- Lead enterprise deployments, upgrades, workspace architecture, and environment scaling across regions and user groups.
- Own supporting products, including ArcGIS Pro, Hub, Velocity, Dashboards, Experience Builder, Field Maps, Survey123, and relevant extensions.
- Manage a growing GIS team within the GSOC, setting priorities, coaching capability, and defining success measures.
- Manage Esri contracts, renewals, TAM hours, ELA/Advantage programs, and relationships with Esri Gold Partners.
- Drive accountability, performance, and value alignment through structured vendor governance.
- Integrate GIS with internal systems (GSOC tech stack, incident management platforms, Kafka feeds, threat intelligence providers, HRIS identity feeds, etc.).
- Partner with Walmart Global Tech on security, SSO, API/SDK integrations, data pipelines, and enterprise access models.
- Collaborate with operational partners to standardize mapping schemas, services, basemaps, and data models.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards, live situational layers, threat overlays, and business asset mapping that support 24/7 monitoring.
- Work with operators and leadership to translate requirements into tools that improve speed, accuracy, and clarity during incidents.
- Drive quality, reliability, uptime, and disaster recovery posture of the GIS platform.
- Establish GIS governance and data stewardship models for the GSOC and partner teams.
- Build and enforce standards for data ingestion, version management, identity and permissioning tagging, and metadata.
- Partner with Legal, Privacy, and InfoSec to ensure data compliance and appropriate use of geospatial intelligence data.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years administering or managing ArcGIS Online/Enterprise environments at scale.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Dashboards, Hub, Experience Builder, and ideally Velocity or similar real-time data ingestion tools.
- Demonstrated success owning enterprise SaaS/GIS programs from implementation through maturity.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts (Esri, GIS service partners, or equivalent).
- People leadership experience (formal or informal) and desire to grow headcount & capability.
- Ability to translate complex spatial technology into business value for non-technical audiences.
- Experience integrating GIS into enterprise ecosystems (APIs, SDKs, webhooks, geofencing, identity models, SCIM/SSO, etc.).
- Familiarity with emergency operations, critical event management, or global risk monitoring use cases.
- Prior experience with data governance, metadata standards, and enterprise architecture.
- Strategic Leadership: Defines GIS vision and roadmap that supports enterprise resilience, operational intelligence, and scale.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates fluency across the Esri ecosystem, translating business needs into technical design and platform architecture.
- Program Stewardship: Lifecycle ownership, governance, vendor management, and data quality discipline.
- Communication: Executive-ready written communication, stakeholder education, and clarity during emergent events.
- People Leadership: Coaches and develops team members, builds a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and leads through values.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
