Senior Designer, Fashion (Soft Wovens) — Job Description
Location: Onsite – New York Office (45 W 25th St, New York, NY)
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Designer, Soft Wovens to lead the seasonal design vision and execution for our soft woven assortment. In this role, you’ll own key categories end-to-end—from trend and concept through final sample approval—while partnering closely with Merchandising, Product Development, and Quality to deliver trend-right, commercially strong product aligned to our private label strategy. You’ll bring a strong point of view on fabric, construction, fit, and silhouette, and you’ll influence the line through clear storytelling, elevated design standards, and confident decision-making with internal teams and global suppliers. What you’ll do
  • Design leadership & seasonal strategy
  • Own and drive the seasonal design direction for soft wovens, ensuring a cohesive, brand-right point of view across the line.
  • Translate trend insights and customer needs into commercial concepts that support line plans, pricing architecture, and sales goals.
  • Set and maintain design standards for fit, proportion, construction, and finishing across the assortment.
  • Trend research & concept development
  • Independently research and synthesize trend direction across runway, retail, street style, and cultural insights.
  • Build and present digital mood boards, concept decks, and fabric/silhouette direction that clearly communicate seasonal intent.
  • Identify key fabrications, washes/finishes, and construction details that elevate the assortment while remaining scalable.
  • Product design & development execution
  • Lead the design and development process from initial sketch through final sample approval, ensuring product is trend-right, wearable, and on-brand.
  • Create detailed Illustrator flats and sketches, and provide clear design callouts for construction, trims, and finishing.
  • Participate in and lead fittings; provide actionable feedback to improve fit, balance, and overall garment execution.
  • Technical communication & documentation
  • Create and maintain comprehensive tech packs, line sheets, and trend decks for internal and external partners.
  • Ensure design intent is accurately translated into production-ready product through clear specs, construction notes, and visual references.
  • Cross-functional partnership
  • Partner with Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, and Quality to align on seasonal priorities, costing, and execution.
  • Influence decision-making by presenting design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations grounded in trend and customer insight.
  • Supplier partnership & sample management
  • Communicate design direction and provide timely, detailed feedback on prototypes to domestic and international suppliers (virtual and in-person).
  • Build strong vendor relationships to improve speed, innovation, and execution quality.
  • Calendar ownership & process management
  • Manage multiple styles and milestones simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet the product development calendar.
  • Proactively identify risks (timing, execution, costing) and drive solutions to keep the line on track.
What you’ll bring
  • 5–8+ years of apparel design experience, with a strong focus on soft wovens (e.g., tops, dresses, skirts, woven bottoms, lightweight outerwear).
  • Proven ability to lead seasonal design and deliver commercially successful assortments.
  • Strong eye for detail with deep knowledge of fabrication, construction, and fit.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PowerPoint (Windows).
  • Strong experience creating Illustrator flats, tech packs, trend presentations, and line sheets.
  • 3D design experience (e.g., Browzwear Lotta and/or V‑Stitcher) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
  • Experience designing for private label and/or high-volume retail.
  • Vendor innovation experience (fabric development, wash/finish development, construction engineering).
