We’re bringing Walmart Global Tech to Sunnyvale
From March 30–April 3rd, we’re inviting a select group of experienced backend software engineers to join us for an in-person hiring experience built for real technical depth and real connection.
This isn’t a career fair. It’s an opportunity to explore the systems powering our U.S. Walmart Tech — and potentially leave with an offer.

What to Expect
Day 1 – Engineering networking and leadership fireside chat
A full day focused on meaningful technical conversations and connection.

Days 2–5 – accelerated onsite interviews

Engineering Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer with Walmart Global Tech in Sunnyvale, you’ll build and scale backend systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of people across our U.S. Walmart Tech ecosystem.

From checkout and fulfillment to dynamic user journeys, the services we build connect digital and physical retail at one of the largest scales in the world.

Across U.S. Walmart Tech, we partner closely with product, data, design, and business teams to build technology that empowers associates and helps customers save money and live better

What you’ll do

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs that support complex digital experiences
• Lead architecture discussions, performance optimization, and scalability improvements
• Partner with product, frontend, data, and UX teams to deliver solutions that improve the end-to-end experience
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong culture of learning
• Champion best practices in architecture, security, testing, and operational excellence
• Build secure, high-performance distributed systems that handle large volumes of traffic and data
• Develop reusable frameworks and maintain high code quality through automated testing and thoughtful code reviews
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root cause analysis
• Contribute to system resilience, performance, and security improvements
• Design and implement services using microservices and service-oriented architecture with Spring
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitHub

What you’ll bring

• 4–8+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend depth
• Hands-on experience with Java, distributed systems, and large-scale application design
• Expertise in Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Kafka, and Cassandra
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, DevOps, and monitoring tools
• Strong database design skills and experience writing complex queries
• Deep understanding of multithreading, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area., We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of accessibility best practices and join us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
