Job Summary:

We are seeking a strategic, data-driven leader to join our team as Director, Data Science – Last Mile. In this high-impact role, you will lead the development and execution of science, analytics, and strategy initiatives to optimize our last-mile delivery operations. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams—Operations, Product, Engineering, and Finance—to uncover insights, shape decisions, and drive measurable improvements in delivery speed, cost, and customer experience. This role requires a unique blend of analytical depth, strategic thinking, and strong leadership to build scalable systems, guide data-informed decision-making, and help shape the future of our delivery network.

What you'll do:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3-5 Senior Managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
• Set and execute the strategic vision for Last Mile Delivery, leveraging data science to drive business outcomes.
• Influence and partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, to align on priorities and deliver measurable impact.
• Oversee the development and optimization of advanced analytics, algorithms, and models to improve delivery speed and reduce costs.
• Drive the adoption of digital and data-driven solutions to scale Walmart’s in-house delivery capabilities.
• Monitor key performance indicators and ensure continuous improvement in delivery operations.

What you'll bring:
• Strong data analytics expertise and business acumen, with a proven ability to translate insights into strategic action.
• Exceptional communication and persuasion skills, with experience influencing at all organizational levels, including executives.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high-performing data science teams.
• Deep digital background with a passion for innovation and operational optimization.
• Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• (Preferred) Experience in supply chain operations, last mile delivery, or related analytics-driven domains. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
