Position Summary...

The Director of Cart & Checkout at Sam’s Club is a senior leader responsible for defining and executing the end-to-end vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Cart and Checkout ecosystem across eCommerce. This role owns one of the most critical moments in the Member journey—login, purchase, payment, and order completion—and is accountable for transforming and driving Member experience, conversion, sales, and operational efficiency.

The Director partners closely with eCommerce, Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Operations, Finance, Legal, Payments, and Marketing to translate Member needs and business priorities into scalable, secure, and frictionless cart and checkout experiences. This leader sets strategic direction, aligns cross-functional teams, and ensures disciplined execution through modern product management and technology practices.

What you'll do...

• Strategic Thinking: Ability to define a clear vision and translate it into executable roadmaps.
• Ownership: This role is directly accountable for business outcomes including add-to-cart, conversion and other cart / checkout engagement metrics.
• Execution Excellence: Strong track record of delivering complex, high-impact initiatives at scale.
• Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to align leaders without direct authority; ability to understand and manage tradeoffs.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfort using analytics, experimentation, and insights to drive prioritization and outcomes.
• Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of modern eCommerce architectures, APIs, and platform dependencies (no coding required).
• Member Obsession: Deep empathy for Member needs and a relentless focus on reducing friction and improving trust.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in digital product, technology, or platform leadership roles
• 5+ years of experience owning or leading cart, checkout, payments, or transactional eCommerce experiences at scale
• Proven ability to set vision and strategy and translate it into executable roadmaps
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with experience influencing Product, Engineering, UX, Data, and Operations
• Demonstrated success driving conversion, reducing friction, and improving customer or Member experience
• Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics and experimentation to inform decisions
• Solid understanding of payments, fraud, tax, promotions, and checkout-related compliance considerations

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
