What you'll do...
We are seeking a talented and passionate “Senior Engineering Manager” for Membership Acquisition, Data & Reporting who will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for building the services, data platforms, and reporting capabilities that power membership growth and lifecycle insights at Sam’s Club. This leader will turn business objectives for acquisition, engagement and renewal into scalable systems, reliable data, and actionable metrics that improve how we acquire, understand, and retain members. About Team:Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. Sam's Club provides a carefully curated assortment of items, as well as developing and leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery service in select markets. Sam's Club also provides travel, auto purchasing, pharmacy, optical, hearing aid centers, tire and battery centers, and a portfolio of business operations support services.

What you'll do:

Lead high-impact engineering teams
Own the strategy, delivery, and operational health of the Membership Acquisition, Data, and Reporting portfolios, including join flows, partner/third-party acquisition integrations, membership data pipelines, and lifecycle dashboards. -
Deliver acquisition and data platforms at scale
Architect and evolve cloud-native, microservices-based systems and data pipelines that support high-volume membership joins and near real-time lifecycle analytics; ensure strong contracts and integrations with the core membership platform, Growth, and Renewal teams. -
Make lifecycle outcomes measurable and visible
Partner with Product, Analytics, Marketing, and Finance to define and instrument metrics (join rate, PLUS penetration, campaign performance, funnel conversion, renewal and churn signals) and expose them via reliable reporting and self-service analytics. -
Champion engineering and operational excellence
Implement and track DORA/OE/SRE metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, change fail rate, and MTTR, while driving high code quality, observability, data quality, and incident-free execution for acquisition and data workloads. -
Grow and coach talent
Hire, develop, and retain high-performing engineers and managers; create clear ownership boundaries, align teams to lifecycle OKRs, and foster a culture of inclusion, experimentation, and continuous improvement in partnership with the Senior Director of Membership Lifecycle Engineering.
What you'll bring:

Proven people and delivery leadership
Experience in leading software engineers delivering complex, cloud-based products or platforms, with a track record of hitting roadmap and reliability goals in high-stakes environments. -
Strong technical depth in services and data
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and modern data platforms (streaming, batch pipelines, data modeling, BI/analytics); able to guide architecture reviews and trade-offs for both APIs and data flows. -
Lifecycle, growth, or subscription domain experience
Background in membership, subscriptions, loyalty, growth/acquisition, or adjacent domains where experimentation, funnels, and LTV/retention are core to the product. -
Data-driven, metrics-first mindset
Demonstrated ability to define, instrument, and act on engineering and business metrics; experienced in partnering with analytics and product teams to convert data into prioritized backlog and measurable outcomes. -
High-quality stakeholder collaboration
Ability to build trust and alignment across Product, Marketing, Finance, and other engineering domains; strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for simplifying complex systems and data concepts for non-technical partners.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
