What you'll do...
Role summary:The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role involves analyzing requirements, creating detailed designs, and ensuring high-quality code that meets functional and non-functional standards. The engineer will collaborate across teams to address technical challenges, drive continuous improvement, and support deployment processes. Expertise in software architecture, coding standards, and testing methodologies is essential to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable applications that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience within a dynamic environment.
About the team:
The Cloud Powered Checkout team develops a scalable, multi-tenant omni-channel checkout platform supporting millions of daily orders globally. The team delivers seamless checkout experiences across all store channels by leveraging high-performance services deployed on Edge and Cloud environments. Collaborating with cross-functional partners, the team drives product strategy, roadmap planning, and data-driven decisions. Members utilize emerging technologies and product lifecycle management to innovate and optimize solutions that address evolving business and customer needs worldwide, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:
- In this role, you'll collaborate with business teams and product managers to understand project requirements.
- You'll lead a team of Senior Engineers and junior Engineers to plan and execute projects for the team.
- You'll work with teams globally to arrive at optimal solutions involving key stakeholders.
- You will also closely work with the principal engineers to come up with high level and low-level designs.
- You'll develop, unit test, and deliver software components accordingly.
- You'll also contribute to Operational Excellence and Engineering Excellence initiatives.
- Additionally, creating tools and systems to boost team productivity will be a significant part of your responsibilities.
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years in software engineering; leading architecture for at scale.
- 5+ years distributed, low-latency backend systems Expertise in , Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra/Cosmos, and RDBMS; deep knowledge of caching, idempotence, Java (11/17/21) NoSQL concurrency, and consistency trade-offs.
- Proven ability to set technical direction, influence stakeholders, and deliver multi team initiatives with measurable impact (latency, SLO set technical direction multi-team initiatives attainment, cost optimization).
- Production experience on Kubernetes (WCNP or similar), service mesh, autoscaling, and advanced rollout strategies (canary, blue/green, shadowing)..
- Strong observability and operational readiness mindset (SLOs, dashboards/alerts, incident drills, RCAs).
- Domain experience in promotions/loyalty/rewards, checkout, payments, or policy/rule engines.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
