Accounting and Finance Development Program (AFDP)

A career in finance and accounting at Walmart is more than crunching numbers, balancing budgets and auditing financial documents. It’s about professional development, big opportunities, taking risks, making an impact and advancing your career.

During a 24-month period, your time is divided into four six-month rotations across Walmart’s Accounting and Finance teams. You’ll lead projects in areas such as U.S. Strategy, Audit and Tax.

Interested? AFDP rotation start times vary throughout the year. Applications are accepted year-round, but the prime time to apply is during the fall for the following year. 

BASIC PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed bachelor's degree with 3.5 GPA or higher in finance, accounting, economics, business, strategy or other quantitative/technical-related field
  • 12 credit hours of accounting upon graduation
  • Graduates who demonstrate high potential to benefit from experiential learning
  • Career interest in business analysis in multiple areas

Global Internal Audit

We get it. Auditors are sometimes known as the finance police, but not here! Our auditors solve problems in every business area across the world. We’re looking for individuals with analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to identify and assess business risks and high ethical standards. The Global Internal Audit team provides new graduates with fundamental skills that easily transfer into other areas of finance and provide long-term career options.

Global Internal Audit is looking for recent graduates who are ready to shape their own career path. The best time to apply is September – November. Interviews are typically completed on college campuses, and selection occurs throughout the academic year.

Basic Program Requirements:

  • Recent graduate of an accredited undergraduate program
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business-related field
  • Candidates most interested in auditing technical processes must hold a bachelor's in management information systems, information technology, or related field

Txt Merchandise

Our merchandising division includes Pricing, Planning, Category Development and Space & Store Layout teams, each influencing the product, experience and customer. 

Our merchants influence the quality of life for billions of people, and this level of influence comes with a great responsibility to listen to the customer, learn and innovate. Business students may make good merchants, but not all merchants are business grads.  At the core of a merchant is the ability to be analytical, insightful, thoughtful and solution-oriented.

Joining the merchandising team gives you an opportunity to serve our customers by contributing insights that guide our buying decisions.  From baby formula to gluten-free options, this team helps us deliver the products our customers want. 

Merchandising Leadership Program (MLP)

MLP participants begin their career as salaried Planning Analysts gaining real-world training and customized career development. MLP associates work on pricing, planning and category development projects in our retail stores and Home Office. This nine-month program provides you with a well-rounded perspective of what it means to be a merchandiser at Walmart. The training includes classroom experience, store operations exposure, distribution center education as well as individual and group project work.

Selection is competitive. Interviews are conducted on college campuses during the fall for cohorts starting in January and June of the year following graduation. The best time to apply is September – November. 

Basic Program Requirements:

  • Strategic thinkers and problem solvers with applicable coursework, basic financial acumen and strong communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in business, finance, marketing, accounting, fashion, retail, operations management or related field
  • Experience in a retail position including buying, sourcing, financial planning, product development, replenishment or marketing

Replenishment Leadership Program (RLP)

Merge your supply chain skills and business acumen through practical experience and classroom instruction at the world’s largest retailer and manager of the most complex distribution network. The six-month leadership program starts your career journey as a salaried replenishment manager at our Home Office. During this time you’ll work closely with our buyers, suppliers and logistics team to engineer processes that assure every product is on the shelf exactly when it needs to be.

The best time to apply for this program is September – November. Apply through your college or university’s Department of Career Services. Interviews are conducted on college campuses and at national collegiate organizations during the fall and early spring semester. Cohorts start in January, June and September.

Basic Program Requirements:

  • Strategic thinkers and problem solvers with applicable coursework, basic financial acumen and strong communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in business, accounting, logistics/supply chain, operations management, industrial engineering, statistics or related field
  • Experience with Excel, or technical skills such as data mining and analytics

MBA Merchandising Roles

The merchandising operations team supports Walmart’s merchants with strategy development, implementation and measured return to ensure category’s perform successful. Assignments are available on a variety of merchandising teams including financial planning, pricing, category development, and replenishment.

Joining the Merchandising team in an MBA role requires professional experience and a desire to continue shaping your career. Autonomy in your professional development is key. The best time to apply is September – November. Interviews are completed on college campuses and selection occurs during the academic year.

  • MBA students from nationally recognized, top-tier programs
  • At least three - five years of professional work experience in a strategic role in consulting, retail or consumer packaged goods company
  • Strong communication, analytics and leadership skills

E3 Finance Program

What does it take to be part of the largest team in business and drive the biggest revenue in the world? For starters, it’s about making decisions and solving problems with company leaders that have an enormous impact on capital markets all over the world. It’s also about helping people save money.

The E3 Program is an 18-month leadership and development rotational program designed to accelerate your career. It meets the needs of candidates with a desire to work on high impact projects, grow their leadership and influence, work with executive leaders, and gain international experience.

Selection is incredibly competitive. The best time to apply is September - November. Interviews are conducted on college campuses for cohorts starting in June and September.

Basic Program Requirements:

  • Our college recruiters seek MBA students from nationally recognized, top-tier programs 
  • At least 3-5 years of professional work experience in a strategic role in consulting, retail or consumer packaged goods company 
  • Strong Communication, analytical and leadership skills
