It’s an exciting time for Walmart International, as we recently began doing business in Sub-Saharan Africa. Walmart International is the company’s fastest-growing business unit and a significant part of our overall operations, with over 5,400 retail units and more than 700,000 associates in 27 countries outside the continental U.S.

With our three basic beliefs and some of the top minds in the world behind us, we’re focused on hiring the world’s best people across our various industries to deliver the smartest ideas in retailing to every market – just as we have been since we opened our first international store in Mexico City in 1991.

Since then, we’ve worked to become a truly global company, creating stores with different styles and formats to serve local customer needs, desires and customs. More than 90 percent of our international stores operate under a different banner than Walmart. But, whether we’re Pali in Costa Rica, Todo Dia in Brazil, or Despensa Familiar in Central America, all of our stores share a common goal: Save people money, so they can live better. To ensure we accomplish this, we work hard so that our stores are partners in the communities they serve, as well as identify and develop local leaders into global ones.
